If your garbage and recycling pickup
falls on the following holidays,
GARBAGE ONLY will be picked up the
following TUESDAY:
- Memorial Day, Monday May
31
- Independence Day Observed, Monday July 5
- Labor Day, Monday September
6
All collection services may be
suspended during ice and snow
storms or hurricanes. If this occurs
on your scheduled pick-up day,
GARBAGE AND RECYCLABLES will be
collected the following SATURDAY.
Please keep the area where garbage
and recycling are placed clear for
safe footing.

- Garbage is picked up
weekly. See street list schedule for your day.
- Receptacles shall be placed
at the curb beginning at dusk of
the night preceding the scheduled
collection day. Receptacles shall
be removed from the curb by 6:00
p.m. of the evening of collection
day.
- Placed at curbside no later than 6
a.m. of scheduled day (Memorial
Day to Labor Day: 5:30 a.m.)
- Six (6) item limit. Please
call 326-7398 for large or extra
items.
- Wrap large glass doors with
cardboard and tape. Rugs should
be cut, rolled and tied (50 pound
limit/roll). If moving, please
notify us well in advance.
- Items not to be more than
four (4) feet in length
- Standard 32 gallon garbage
cans only with lids/handles or
plastic bags (50 pound limit per
container). Examples of conforming and non-conforming receptacles
- NO construction
materials
- NO household hazardous
waste
- LATEX PAINT - MUST be
dried out in cans before
disposal. Cat litter works
well.
- Animal feces should be placed
in paper bags before being put in
the garbage
- All garbage must be placed out at the curb for collection on your day. Garbage will not be accepted at the DPW Yard on Jane Way.

Municipal Building.

Mail: Tied in bundles or
put in paper shopping bags.
Bundles and bags can be put into
standard trash can with lid
appropriately marked. Include
junk mail with
magazines. NO
hard cover or telephone
books.
- Corrugated
Cardboard/Chipboard/Brown
Shopping Bags:
(Chipboard includes cereal boxes,
shoe boxes and the like) Break
down and tied the same as
newspaper.
- Glass food jars /
Beverage bottles / Aluminum
beverage cans / Steel cans / Classes 1-7 plastic containers. (Details Of 1-7 Plastic)
: Rinse
and place in a weatherproof
container (standard 32 gallon
type garbage can with lid and
handles). Fifty (50) pound limit
per container. No plastic or
paper bags to be used as
containers.
- Recycling drop-off center
located at DPW. All recyclables accepted including motor oil Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Saturday 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

- This service is no longer available at curbside.
- Residents may bring their brush and branches to the DPW Yard on Jane Way Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 12:00 noon
- Branches up to four (4) inches in diameter at cut end.
- Landscapers and contractors will not be allowed to bring brush and branches for disposal. No Exceptions.
- Brush and branches will not be accepted from October 7, to December 11, 2010, due to the annual Leaf Collection program

- The County of Morris annually
provides a program for the
safe disposal of hazardous
waste such as oil base
paints, paint thinners, gasoline,
herbicides, pesticides, acids,
car batteries, propane tanks,
etc. They also have a Household
Hazardous Waste Facility located
in Mount Olive which is open
to County residents.To schedule an appointment, call the Morris County Municipal Utility
Authority (MUA) at 973-829-8006. The facility is open on select Tuesdays and Fridays
(9 to 11 AM) and Saturdays (8 to 11 AM). Drop-off events are held periodically at the
Morris County Public Safety Training Academy, 500 West Hanover Ave., Parsippany.
- If you're a diabetic or a
person taking medication by
injection, DO NOT THROW
OUT YOUR USED SYRINGES
They are not accepted at the
County Transfer Station and
cannot be recycled. To protect
the safety of your sanitation and
recycling workers, please
register for the Safe Syringe
Disposal Program at Morristown
Memorial Hospital. The program is
FREE. Call 1-973-971-4177 for
details.

- Rechargeable and specific types of batteries are accepted at the Department of Public Works Recycling Depot located on Jane Way, Monday - Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
- A Battery Recycling Container is located in the center lobby of the Municipal Building at the information table in the Township of Morris, Municipal Building, 50 Woodland Ave. Monday - Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
- Acceptable types of batteries
- Ni-Cad Batteries used in cordless power tools and cordless house phones
- Lithium Batteries used in cell phones, digital cameras, and computers
- Button Type Batteries used in watches, hearing aides
- Non-Acceptable types of batteries
- Alkaline type batteries (AA, AAA, C, D, 9 Volt) made after 1994 are not considered hazardous waste. Please dispose of these type batteries in with your garbage.

In order to comply with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Storm Water Regulations, please adhere to the following;
- Service provided from October
12 to December 11.We
cannot predict a specific
collection day for your
street.
- Leaves, grass clippings and
plant waste are to be placed in
neat piles at the curb for
collection.
- Do not place piles on pavement or less than ten (10) feet from any stormdrain.
- No brush in piles of
leaves, please.
- During this period only, residents may bring light brush to the Department of Public Works Site on Jane Way.
- Do not place light brush out with regular garbage.
- Pick ups are by sector. Find
your street in Sector 1, Sector 2 or Sector 3.

- Effective July 1, 2010 will occur the last full week of each month only, by call in to the DPW at 973-326-7398.
- This service will be limited to large appliances (full size refrigerators, standup and chest freezers, stoves, hot water heaters/boilers) and by call-in only at the above listed number.
- All smaller appliances (dehumidifiers and room a/c's) and metal items must be dropped off at the DPW yard on Jane Way Monday to Friday from 6:00 am to 12:00 noon.
- This service will not be available during the annual Leaf Collection Program. Please call back after December 11, 2010 to schedule a collection.

- During the first full week of each month from April to October this service will occur. It will begin on April 3, 2011 for Zone 1 and April 4, 2011 for Zone 2. Please review your calendar for your zone, collection dates and guidelines. Material must be placed in containers (32 gallon recommended) or brush may be tied up in bundles not to exceed 4 foot in length. Containers or bundles must not exceed 50 lbs.
- The Department of Public Works will provide a drop-off area at our yard adjacent to the main entrance on Jane Way for residents only (no contractors). Residents may bring their yardwaste (grass clippings, leaves and light brush) to our yard on Jane Way Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The DPW Yard will also open up one Saturday per month (between April and October) for drop off, from 8:00 AM to Noon. Please refer to the calendar for specific dates.
- Yardwaste (grass clippings, leaves and light brush) may be mixed together for disposal. Plastic bags may be used for disposal purposes at the DPW Yard only! Please be prepared to dump all containers and contents if you choose to bring your yardwaste to the DPW Yard. Dirt, roots, and stumps are prohibited.
